The United States Naval Academy Squash Team's excellent showing at the 2006 College Squash Association Individual Championship in Amherst, Massachusetts, reaffirms the gut feelings of the institution's leadership that squash players are a relatively untapped resource waiting to be, well, tapped.

As recruitment efforts face increasing obstacles, The Navy Squash team is seen as a great draw for those interested in intense play, four years of Academy training and five years as Navy or Marine Corps officers. According to the website, the Naval Academy teaches "the importance of being physically fit and prepared for stress because the duties of Navy and Marine Corps officers often require long, strenuous hours in difficult situations."
